With EMAS registration, G.I.D.A. acquired a useful tool both for the pursuit of the policy aimed at paying attention to the impact of its processes (as part and parcel of the company mission, aimed at protecting the environment), and for the achievement of a systematic monitoring of all significant aspects, in compliance with regulatory provisions and objectives of continuous improvement of environmental performance.
This environmental certification has accustomed the company to orient all its activities towards the desire to activate processes of promotion and dissemination of values and correct behavior from an environmental point of view. Our commitment to the environment is summarized in this Environmental Statement, a document that contains a description of the sites and activities of our company, the environmental management system, the environmental policy and the improvement objectives we have decided to pursue.

 

Company Policy Quality, Safety and Environment

G.I.D.A. S.p.A. (a company subject to the management and coordination of Alia Servizi Ambientali S.p.a.) operates as a subject responsible for the purification of civil and industrial wastewater in the City of Prato and the Municipalities of the Bisenzio Valley (Vaiano, Vernio and Cantagallo) in the interest and on behalf of the operator of the Integrated Water Service, offering wastewater purification services,  to which are added: the treatment of waste from septic tanks and leachates, the recovery and distribution services of used water; GIDA also disposes of most of the purification residues produced on its own.

G.I.D.A. S.p.A. has always considered the following as key elements of its corporate strategy: Quality, Environmental Protection and Health and Safety of workers, compliance with legal provisions, the reduction of pollution generated and the improvement of the company's environmental performance, coordinated production management and constant monitoring of processes and activities.

To this end, a Management System has been established and is maintained in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and EMAS regulations.

The Management of G.I.D.A. considers the objective of the satisfaction of the interested parties to be a priority, above any other element, to whom continuous and constant attention is directed; in harmony with this objective, G.I.D.A. is committed to ensuring compliance with the laws and regulations in force governing the institutional activity of wastewater purification and that relating to labor relations and safety, enhancing the Human Capital and the corporate structure, in order to pursue the related public interest.

All the staff of a G.I.D.A. directly involved for:

  1. guarantee compliance with the applicable legal requirements and other requirements that G.I.D.A. subscribes to relating to its environmental aspects, the requirements requested by customers, the health and safety of workers;
  2. guarantee the adequacy of the Policy to the expectations of the interested parties and the reference context;
  3. systematically detect and monitor the environmental aspects of its activities and the consequent changes to the environment, with particular reference to emissions into the atmosphere, water discharges, waste management and the use of natural resources, in order to prevent and reduce all possible environmental impacts, including as a result of new activities or emergency situations;
  4. develop, implement and review its Management System to ensure the continuous improvement of performance, the health and safety of workers, the achievement of the environmental objectives and targets identified and the achievement of the expected results;
  5. promote the involvement, information and training on environmental and health and safety matters of personnel, suppliers and external bodies;
  6. maintain open and constructive relations with the Public Administration, the Community and Individuals who have a legitimate interest in the Company's environmental performance;
  7. invest in research applied to new technologies of Process Engineering and in the evolution of chemical/biological knowledge of wastewater purification and sewage treatment.

To keep the company's organization under control and improve, G.I.D.A. has implemented the Management System, the development and results of which are monitored through a series of indicators and an audit program in order to have an objective view of the progress of the process.

The commitments expressed in this document are translated into an improvement plan for the implementation of which the G.I.D.A. Management undertakes to provide all the necessary resources and support.
 

In particular, G.I.D.A. is committed to pursuing the following objectives:

  • Compliance with laws and mitigation of environmental impacts
  • Compliance with the legislation on the health and safety of workers
  • Risk and opportunity management
  • Service improvement
  • Increased customer satisfaction
  • Increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the provision of IIS services
  • Increased commercial efficiency
  • Economic improvement
  • Absence of accidents and occupational diseases

G.I.D.A. S.p.A. communicates its policy through moments of awareness and training of personnel on quality issues and checks the level of understanding through periodic verification phases (meetings with staff, internal audits, management reviews) and distributes it through posting of the same on the various Company Bulletin Boards.

 

LABORATORY QUALITY POLICY

G.I.D.A. S.p.A., moreover, carrying out Laboratory Analysis services on its own account, declares through the Management:

  1. the commitment of the "laboratory management" to good professional practice and to the quality of the tests offered to customers through the rules defined in the Quality Manual and in the Laboratory procedures;
  1. with regard to the level of service offered, the willingness to perform tests and calibrations in accordance with pre-established methods, related legal obligations and customer requirements;
  2. the commitment to continuous improvement and maintenance of the quality management system developed in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9001:2015;
  3. the commitment that all personnel involved in testing activities within the laboratory are familiar with quality documentation and implement policies and procedures in their work;
  4. the importance for the laboratory to meet customer requirements as well as mandatory requirements and regulations.

In order to achieve what is described in the Laboratory Quality Policy and therefore to pursue and achieve the company's objectives, the Management of G.I.D.A S.p.A. delegates to the Quality Management Systems Manager the authority to:

  1. ensure that the Quality Management System in the Laboratory is implemented and guaranteed at all times in compliance with the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 standard;
  2. report to the "Laboratory Management" on the progress of the Laboratory's quality and on the need for improvement;
  3. perform internal audits.

The Policy may be subject to change, which will be grounds for revision of this document, as the company structure, the context of reference or the company's needs change and will in any case be subject to verification during the periodic Management Review.

All GIDA personnel are required to comply with this Policy, as well as with all other prescriptive documents.

In order to comply with the stated in the Policy, the Management of GIDA provides the necessary resources and has defined the responsibilities for the management of the activities of the Management System, communicating to the organization the importance of meeting the requirements of the interested parties, as well as the mandatory requirements and regulations, through the same Policy, the objectives, internal communications and the rules of its Management System.
