As part of the 2023 Sustainable Development Award, established for the thirteenth year by the Foundation for Sustainable Development and Ecomondo-Italian Exhibition Group under the patronage of MASE, intended for companies, startups and local administrations that have distinguished themselves for eco-innovation, effectiveness of environmental and economic results and their potential for dissemination.

"The award," said Edo Ronchi, President of the Foundation for Sustainable Development, "has now become the showcase of excellence for good green economy practices. Never before have we received so many applications and so many of excellent quality.

The participation of local administrations and public companies was also very high to demonstrate how a new green consciousness has now spread throughout the territory in order to make citizens' lives more sustainable".

This year the Sustainable Development Award is dedicated to Lorenzo Cagnoni: the President of Ecomondo and then of IEG was a central promoter of this initiative in support of the dissemination of innovation for ecological sustainability.

For the circular management of wastewater in two recycling and recovery plants; Reclaimed water is used by industries in production and fire-fighting processes. 

The Commission that selected the winners is composed of Edo Ronchi, President of Commissions, for the circular economy, Alessandra Astolfi, Stefano Leoni for sustainable mobility, Alessandra Bailo Modesti, Massimo Ciuffini, Carla Messina; for the circular management of water by Claudia Brunori, Enrico Rolle, Gianni Squitieri.
